Materials are not decoration here — they are how an idea gets resolved. Material Studio is where selections are tested, edited and specified: what belongs, where it belongs, how it meets the next thing, and how it ages. Behind the judgment sits a private global network of quarries, mills, fabricators, workrooms, artisans and material houses — foundational materials alongside the unusual, the limited, the handcrafted and the imported.
Foundational
Materials with range, longevity and architectural clarity.
Exotic
Rare movement, unusual colour and distinctive provenance.
Handcrafted
Carved, cast, woven, hammered, troweled, blown or finished by hand.
Imported
Sourced through international quarries, mills, ateliers and workrooms.
The Library — the practice’s archive of references, books and rare finds — is its own world; it feeds the thinking. This index resolves the project. The Library →

Stone
FOUNDATIONALEXOTICIMPORTED
Structure · Surface · Age
From quiet honed limestone to expressive imported stone with movement, depth and translucency.
Drapery, shades, upholstery and custom soft goods — specified for material, movement, light control, durability and integration. Textile Studio is its own destination.
Specification · Sourcing · Finish schedules · Samples + alternates · Performance review · Site coordination — every study ends as a buildable document.
An edit, not a catalog
The working library is far broader.
What is shown here is a view into the material language available through G&G. The
working library is sourced project by project against performance, scale, provenance, budget,
maintenance and design intent.
Appliances + Fixtures
Specified by commission.
Ranges, refrigeration, ventilation and plumbing fixtures are specified against the
drawings rather than chosen from a shelf — sized to the millwork, the ventilation run and the
way the room is actually used. We hold trade accounts across the categories and quote per project.
Gray & Grace maintains private trade relationships in the U.S. and internationally.
Manufacturer names, vendor relationships, wholesale information and project-specific specifications
remain private and are developed individually for each commission.
